Dimuon signals from the CMS at the LHC

Nuno Leonardo

The LHC has been delivering collisions, both proton-proton and lead-lead, at unprecedented energies.  The accumulated datasets allow for thorough measurements performed in previously un-probed kinematic regions or in the newly created environment. They allow as well for searches for new phenomena to be pursued in previously un-accessible phase space. I will discuss examples of measurements of the class of signals involving a resonant state decaying to a lepton pair, based on the pp and PbPb data collected by the CMS experiment.
