Visiting Lecturership 2008-09



The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Northwestern University invites applications for a one-year (nine-month) full-time Visiting Lectureship starting September 2008.  Required:  PhD in physics, strong interest in superior undergraduate science education, ability to teach courses at all levels from introductory lecture class to first-year graduate level.  Responsibilities:  six one-quarter courses.  Salary:  dependent upon qualifications.  Benefits:  normal full-time-faculty benefit package covering up to twelve months (September 2008 through August 2009).  We require a statement of interest, curriculum vita, and evidence of teaching effectiveness (teaching evaluations, classroom observations, or other relevant measures), plus letters of recommendation from three referees, at least one who can comment on teaching qualifications, to be sent directly to Professor Venkat Chandrasekhar, Department of Physics and Astronomy, 2145 Sheridan Road, Northwestern University, Evanston, IL 60208.  Application materials may also be sent to the attention of Professor Chandrasekhar at physics-astronomy@northwestern.edu.  General questions may be addressed to Dr. David Taylor at the same addresses.  Northwestern is an AA/EEO employer; applications from women and members of minority groups especially welcome.
