Prof. Prem Kumar Receives Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service

Prem Kumar, AT&T Professor of Information Technology (joint with Electrical Engineering) served as Program Manager for the Defense Science Office, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisistion, Technology, and Logistics from February 2013 to February 2017. He received the Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service. His citation noted his "pioneering contributions to quantum and optical sciences, enabling new capabilities that directly benefitted the Department of Defense and other areas of the United States Government."
